The Palo Alto Model Railroad Club was located in beautiful Palo Alto, California on the San Francisco Peninsula. Club membership was open to anyone 12 (sixth grade) and older. We had a 1,000 square foot HO scale layout in room 35 at the old Terman High School on Arastradero Road in Palo Alto, halfway between El Camino Real and Foothill Expressway. Club meetings were weekly, on Thursday nights from 5:30 pm to late during the summer, and on Friday nights from 5:30 pm to late during the school year. Visitors used to see the layout free of charge during any regular meeting or show.

Layout design was loop-to-loop with a mainline run of over 900 feet. Most members modeled the diesel era but some steam locomotives made appearances every so often. We had two Open-house shows per year, and visitors were always welcome at the regular meetings as well. The third meeting of the month was running night, where visitors were guaranteed to see trains in motion. The other meetings were partly work nights and partly running nights.

The links below include many pictures of our old layout. The 'Layout Tour' link is a tour of our layout that is no longer.
